Golden Phoenix – 50th Anniversary Season Hotting Up!

Our 50th Anniversary Season is becoming memorable in so many ways.

Our Musical Director, Chris Hann had to take early paternity leave – meaning that the choir had no conductor for the Golden Phoenix annual concert!
However, our golden good fortune was that David Crown was available and agreed very kindly to step in. With just one rehearsal left, David and the choir managed to pull together and ultimately delivered a highly satisfactory concert performance. The parallel good news is that Chris is now a Dad with baby Hugo.

Golden Day for Walter Hussey competition winner
We were excited and pleased to announce the winner of the inaugural Walter Hussey Composition Competition on Saturday 9 March is Gerson Batista with his piece Golden Day!
Gerson, a young multi-talented Portuguese composer, travelled to the UK to receive the award and hear his piece being performed as part of Reading Phoenix Choir Golden Phoenix concert – a really thrilling moment!
